Don your best costume and grab your brightest pumpkin bucket or means of a trusty lolly-carrier for Halloween’s favourite tradition: knocking on strangers’ doors and asking for lollies on the one day of the year it’s socially acceptable, Saturday 31 October.

Trick or treating in Brisbane/Meanjin, and Australia alike, is becoming more popular as the years tick by. What was once a tradition reserved for our American friends is now a fixture on the Aussie calendar with extravagant displays and bone-chilling haunted houses popping up across Brisbane, brimming with lollies and choccy.

Wondering where to go this year? We’ve rounded up the best streets for trick or treating in Brisbane on Saturday 31 October 2026, plus a few honourable mentions to seriously spooky houses going big for Halloween.

Update: While the forecast is looking a little soggy, don’t let that be the thing to scare you off. Think of it as adding to the spookiness of the night. Most houses are preparing for the potential downpour, so pack a brolly and closed-toe shoes for your tricking and treating.

The Morgue At Rochedale

Underwood Park, Rochedale South

This is less of your typical horror house and more of a full-blown Halloween outing, but well worth a visit if you’re trick-or-treating in Rochedale South—especially if you’re up for a scary maze. Here, they’ve got three: the main maze for those who dare, an optional super scary maze that your worst nightmares couldn’t even match, and an undercover kids maze for little witches and wizards. Plus, they’ve got aerialist displays, puppet shows, graveyard games, hearse rides, and a crystal-ball fortune teller. And while rain is the least scary thing here, it’s nothing to fear—The Morgue At Rochdale is ready with umbrellas, undercover areas and indoor fun. Find out more here.

The Ashbury Asylum

Ashbury Court, Alexandra Hills

The good folk of Ashbury Court are ready to scare the living daylights out of you at The Ashbury Asylum. We’re talking a real Annabell doll rocking in her chair, five massive animatronics, flame machines, a live chainsaw and the Ring tape on repeat. Entry is entirely free and of course, they have free lollies for trick or treaters. That said, you’ll even find a frozen yoghurt van here offering FroYo, acai, drinks and tasty treats. It’s running Saturday 31 October only, 5-8pm. Find out more here.

Halloween On Effingham Street

18 Effingham Street, Tarragindi

Tarragindi, there’s a fang-tastic Halloween house on Effingham Street that goes beyond your typical free-lolly situation (although they absolutely have that) that caters to pretty much everyone. They’ve got chips, slushies, lucky dips, a sausage sizzle, and even a spooky photo booth for a terror-ific keepsake moment. If you or your little monsters prefer a quieter experience, from 2-3pm and 7-7:30pm, the noise is turned down for a quiet, sensory-friendly take. Plus, the entire event is pup-friendly Find out more here.
