This Luxurious Un-Honeymoon Proves You Don’t Need A Ring To Do Romance Right

No ring? No problem, because the uber luxurious Crystalbrook Collection has dropped a limited-time-only package designed to give you and your beau the honeymoon experience—without the nuptials. 

For my partner of six years and I, Australia’s first “un-honeymoon” was the perfect excuse to skip the aisle and celebrate our de facto status. After all, every day that we eat dinner together, wait for each other to watch the next episode and take care of our four-legged son is like a vow to be there in good times and bad. It’s also a trend captured around the country, with Australian marriage rates on a steady decline over the past two years; dwindling from 7.1% in 2004 to 5.5% in 2024, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

The No Rings Attached package is available across all of Crystalbrook’s stunning destinations, but we kept it local with a staycay in Brisbane’s Crystalbrook Vincent. Boasting five stars and an enviable location in the heart of Howard Smith Wharves, we packed our bags and didn’t look back. 

On arrival, we were asked to sign the Vow To Indulge, solemnly swearing to ‘sleep in shamelessly’, ‘choose pleasure over pressure’ and ‘relax like it’s your only responsibility’. Yep, that’s the easiest ‘I do’ of my life.

Our home for the weekend? Crystalbrook Vincent’s breathtaking River Master Balcony Room, which overlooks the Brisbane River, city skyline and the iconic Story Bridge. In our dedicated lounge area, we were welcomed with a delectable charcuterie board and a bottle of bubbles, which was very quickly popped and poured so we could toast to the dreaminess yet to come. 

Proving that the only item on the agenda for this stay was total relaxation, crafted cocktails were then delivered to our door—perfect for sipping as we prepared for a sunset dinner at Crystalbrook Vincent’s resident rooftop bar Fiume. Chic, laidback and sporting what’s easily one of the best views in Brisbane, we perched on the stylish balcony to enjoy signature tipples and curated bites—from blood orange burrata to lobster rolls.

Back in our suite and cosied up in Crystalbrook robes, a knock on the door signalled the arrival of a little after-dark decadence included in the No Rings Attached package: a cake tasting flight with matcha, chocolate and red velvet treats. Needless to say, sweet dreams were had after that. 

While I’m more than happy to spend my days in full sloth mode, my partner has a lot more energy to burn. And since a good relationship is all about compromise, we opted to make the most of Crystalbrook Vincent’s location in the heart of the action and ticked off a top experience on our bucket list: the Story Bridge Adventure Climb because, you know, there’s nothing sexier than a fully enclosed climb suit. 

The twilight climb truly is a one-of-a-kind experience for locals and visitors alike—providing a new perspective on Brisbane we’ve never seen before. With golden hour in full swing and the wind in our hair (so much wind), it’s a memory we’ll treasure forever. 

The rest of our un-honeymoon was spent rolling out of bed, lounging in style and feeling all the love. Daily breakfast is included at Mews restaurant downstairs, which is known for its produce-driven dishes and charming atmosphere (aka the perfect way to start the day), and a dip in Crystalbrook Vincent’s rooftop infinity pool is absolutely mandatory because there truly is no other view like it. We also enjoyed the unique favours curated by relationship expert Susie Kim for the stay, particularly the connection cards which had us yapping away like we were on our first date.
