Things To Do

Enter The LifeFlight Lottery To Show Your Support And You Could Win $40k

By Louis Costello

There’s something particularly impressive about medical professionals who fly around Queensland saving lives—sure, everyone in the life-saving field is objectively a top-tier human, but imagine providing intensive care in the back of a helicopter travelling to and from remote areas, that is surely the gold standard.

Every two months, LifeFlight operates a lottery that raises vital funds to support these rescue missions, offering an incentive for ticket holders that could very well let you breathe a sigh of relief when it comes to the cost of living calculations.

The winner of the draw—announced on 2 May 2024—has the opportunity to pick between a $40k prize package, including fuel and groceries for a year plus $20k in cash, or the full $40k in cash or gold

Driving with the petrol light blinking in your face could be last year’s problem.

What Your Ticket Supports

The draw for this particular lottery helps support the medics and specialised LifeFlight personnel who travel around Queensland, flying to assist those in trouble and get them to hospital, all while providing critical care.

The lottery  provides funds to LifeFlight so that their services are in tip-top shape, and allows them to plan for the future needs of  the communities they serve every day of the year. Queensland can be a tricky state to navigate with all manner of hazards, so it's nice to know that no matter where you go, LifeFlight is on-hand to help.

From aeromedical systems to search and rescue equipment and research, the LifeFlight lottery helps to keep all the cogs running smoothly.

Stepping outside (and subsequently staying inside) can cost a pretty penny these days—whether it’s petrol, groceries or rising house prices—so $40k can go an incredibly long way to give you that leg up in 2024.

Imagine a year where you don’t have to factor a trip down to the beach in your weekly petrol budget? Or where you can go to the supermarket and get the fancy cheese for a special soiree? Far be it from us to tell you how to use the winnings if your ticket gets picked, but the options are truly endless.

Scoping out the bigger picture, there’s also the option to plan ahead and avoid the stress of rent or a mortgage payments every month; it’ll be like living at your parents’ place again but sans parents.

For the simple pleasures, savour a trip to the store where you don’t have to make a beeline straight to the reduced section. Buying milk that won’t expire in two days? That’s a different type of luxury.

There Are Bonus Draws

If you miss out on the big $40k prize, there’s the option to join the Rescue Ready Club (VIP subscription)  which announces a winner of a $500 prepaid Visa card every fortnight.

The Rescue Ready Crew VIP ticket holders get your name published on the website if you win, so friends and well-wishers will know you’re helping a cause and might just think more highly of you for doing so.

That’s called elevated street cred.
