The Verdict
So you’re after some glasses, but you want them to do that fabulous mug of yours justice. Your face is unique, so why shouldn’t your glasses be too? Enter 2020 Optical: Brisbane’s optical specialist that offers the very best in eyewear from around the world.
Since firmly establishing themselves on James Street in 2000, the 2020 team have opened a second store: a stunning, super-stylish industrial-chic space in Brisbane Arcade that fits in flawlessly with the handcrafted vibe of its neighbouring retailers.
You won’t find all the typical eyewear designers here; 2020 Optical carry an impressive collection of cutting edge, specialty frames you definitely won’t see anywhere else. Each year, owner/optometrist Kevin travels to eyewear trade fairs in Paris to meet with 2020's designers and source the most unique, chic eyewear creations. Handcrafted with state-of-the-art design using opulent materials like gold, wood, super-lightweight stainless steel and titanium, people travel from all over Australia to get their hands on 2020’s selection of colourful and unique specs from the likes of Belgian designer Theo, high-profile German designer Mykita, Lindberg, Rolf and Chrome Hearts.
If you’re overwhelmed by choice, Kevin has a knack for knowing exactly what will suit his clients and will perfectly fit and customise each frame from start to finish. 2020 has an onsite lab and bespoke eyewear can be collected the same day you choose them! Not only that, they’ll help you take care of your investment by providing a complimentary service every six months.
Quirky, original, and architectural; once you’ve been to 2020 Optical all other frames can seem, well, a little… pedestrian. Their eyewear is an investment but oh-so-worth-it (also—hello, cost-per-wear value!), so bring those peepers in and let 2020 work their magic!
