While dining at Yoko is a peak Brisbane experience thanks to its prime riverside location at Howard Smith Wharves (and the incredible eats coming out of the kitchen of course), it certainly doesn’t give back-alley Tokyo izakaya vibes—however their new ‘little sister’ venue upstairs has that in spades. Taking over the upper level of the restaurant (which has long been around, but is now getting its own fresh new persona), B-SIDE is part vinyl bar, part dining experience, and all about the good times.
Perfect for everything from pre-dinner drinks and bites to date nights and after-work hangs, B-SIDE is dishing up a menu of curated dishes inspired by the culinary hot spots you can find beneath Tokyo’s train stations. Order up plates of sashimi, tuna tataki, wagyu katsu sliders and prawn buns, as well as a hearty bowl of ramen (there’s two to choose from) and a miso caramel soft serve for dessert.
On the drinks front, renowned bartender and drinks aficionado Matt Whiley has crafted a list of creative cocktails, including Japanese highballs and of course, slushies (this is still Yoko we’re in, after all). Adding to the party atmosphere, DJs will spin every night, with Mondays dedicated to 80s and 90s vinyl tunes.
