The Verdict
Naming your restaurant after the ancient mythological God of Wine may be a tall order to live up to, but South Bank restaurant Bacchus will well and truly blow you out of the water. Housed inside the Rydges Hotel in South Bank, it looks just as a hotel restaurant should—opulent, sophisticated, mature, with a touch of whimsy and a somewhat retro feel.
The food at Bacchus is a delight and focuses on classic concepts done beautifully. We recommend the entrée of mushroom burrata, served with a slow-cooked duck egg, greens and a crouton. But really, if you don't opt for the five course dessert degustion, are you even living?
