After four long years of waiting, Melbourne’s iconic Baker D Chirico has finally opened the doors to its Brisbane location, and it was worth the wait. While the bakery’s stunning March Studio-designed fit out—with curved wooden panelling inspired by the weaves of a bread basket—was completed last year, it had been operating only as a weekend pop-up offering up a small selection of treats, but it’s now ready to give us the full experience.

Arrayed on the counter of the expansive bakery and cafe you’ll find a range of French, German and Italian-inspired goodies, from the essential croissants, danishes and tarts to bombolone, brioche rolls, sourdough loaves and so much more. You can pair your chosen selection (because there’s no way you’ll be able to choose just one item) with a coffee to-go or find a table overlooking Long Island Piazza’s tranquil water fountains.
