Thrifting with a matcha in hand is great but thrifting with a vino? Now that’s the stuff, and exactly what you can do at Bar Lou Lou.
The new wine bar in Fortitude Valley is an eclectic and homely space marrying all the things its owner and namesake loves. Specifically, secondhand finds, unique pan-Asian eats and the kind of sips you’ll be reaching for in between lively conversations.
French pastry chef Adnane Khattabi is behind the menus, dishing out playful flavours like a Thai spin on the classic Bunnings sausage, bahn mi crostinis and a Japanese curry pie (vegans and gluten-free folk can add this spot to their rotation). The wine list leans toward natural, small-batch and local drops, with a few beers on tap (including Guinness) and a few cocktails in the mix. Cosy up by the cushions or check out the vintage selection in the back, with items ranging from roughly $5 to $40.
Bar Lou Lou is also dog-friendly, and supports its community with all the money from empty bottles and cans donated to Valley Hearts.
