The Verdict

Blackmarket Bar & Grill is Brisbane’s newest rooftop bar and restaurant. Nestled in the heart of the CBD and serving up the state’s best produce, we’re pretty stoked to see these guys launch.

The venue sprawls over two levels, with an indoor-outdoor vibe reminiscent of the classic Queenslander. Head outdoors for views of the city and sun-drenched afternoon drinks, or set up indoors for brunch and lunch.

One of our favourites is the 100km eggs benedict (we told you they were local!) that puts a homegrown spin on the breakfast icon that comes with your choice of ham off the bone, grilled chorizo, grilled mushrooms, or Tasmanian smoked salmon from down south. Wash it down with one of their award-winning specialty coffees which is—you guessed it—sourced locally.

Come lunchtime, the steak sandwich should be on your hit list. Queensland Ekka’s Grand Champion Beef of Show Sirloin steak sandwiched between fresh, grilled sourdough and rosemary salted chips, anyone?! The Moreton Bay bug linguine is another ode to our state's finest. It’s kept simple, but remains mind-blowingly delish: local bug meat, tossed in extra virgin olive oil, roasted garlic and greens, and fresh lemon juice. Herbivores can take comfort in the chargrilled Queensland cauliflower and sweet potato served on a bed of hummus and vegan mayo, aka, the Blackmarket vege patch.

The cocktails and bar menu are killer, too. Especially when you consider the fact that you get a freakin’ free grazing platter with your drinks during happy hour! A cocktail out on the deck here is our idea of paradise.

With rooftop vibes, an all-Queensland produce line up, and free platters with your happy hour drinks, we think this spot personifies Brisbane pretty darn well.
