When you think of the classic fish and chip shop, some things come to mind and they’re probably delightfully golden, battered, and perfectly salted. That’s what you can expect at Westfield Chermside’s new eatery, Catch Fish and Chips.

Officially opening its doors this November, the fresh take on the Aussie staple is fast and fast-free with all the humble classics you love done right—think golden calamari rings, juicy prawn rolls, crispy chips and freshly grilled fish. And while its location might not be quintessentially coastal, Catch is sure to bring in all the surfside charm.

“Catch Fish and Chips is inspired by the Aussie tradition of enjoying good fish and chips by the beach,” said CEO of Hunter St. Hospitality—the group behind the nostalgic fish and chipper who are also known for El Camino, The Bavarian and Winghaus. “We wanted to bring that same warmth and simplicity to the heart of the city.”

All your seafood favourites will be on the menu, from NZ Hoki, grilled salmon and barramundi to signature burgers, loaded bowls and a Little Nippers section for kids. When it comes to dessert, there’s only one option at a fish and chips shop, so naturally deep fried Mars bars are on offer.

“Chermside felt like the perfect place to launch —bringing a touch of coastal charm to a busy urban centre and creating something fun for the local community. And we aim for more Catch Fish and Chips to come.”

Catch Fish and Chips opens at Westfield Chermside next to The Bavarian on Wednesday 12 November.
