The Details
You’ve probably been to many a French patisserie in your time, but how about an Italian pasticceria? Woolloongabba’s newest bakery is just that, a buzzing, Italian-inspired bakery from a seasoned hospitality duo—Matteo Cerin (the pastry chef) and Giuseppe Caputo (a front-of-house superstar).
While you will find multiple kinds of croissants, Danishes and tarts arrayed on the marble counter, there’s also plenty of Italian specific treats, from their signature bomboloni and cannoli to maritozzo—brioche buns stuffed with whipped cream and dipped in chocolate. There’s also a selection of filled and topped focaccias, if you’re in need of something savoury before your sugar hit.
The real drawcard though, is the refrigerated case filled with bite-sized treats so you can mix and match and try one of everything. Choose from an array of fruit tarts, mini rhum baba, choux pastries and bacio—whether you share them or not is up to you. The team are also pouring smooth coffees to pair with your chosen goodies, but with the crowds lining up out the door here on the daily, we wouldn’t bank on being able to nab one of the handful of seats inside—best plan on taking your scores home.
