The highly anticipated $35 million Dakabin Hotel is finally opening this week after an 18-month development, and we’re here to tell you it’s certainly worth the hype. In fact, we’re not the only ones who think so, with 5,000 bookings in just 48 hours proving how excited the Moreton Bay community is for the epic venue.
Dakabin Hotel is the handiwork of one of Queensland’s most recognised hospitality operators the Comiskey Group, who are known for iconic destinations including Eatons Hill Hotel, Sandstone Point Hotel, and The Doonan on the Sunshine Coast. Inside, you’ll find a truly impressive array of offerings, with something for everyone to enjoy.
Take the signature restaurant—featuring a unique two-kitchen concept, expect a blend of modern Australian fare with international influences across two global menus. There’s the Western kitchen, dishing up classics inspired by the Americas, Great Britain, and Europe, like the crispy buttermilk fried chicken burger with a generous drizzle of sweet-spicy hot honey and the chargrilled steak sandwich decked out in premium grain-fed rib-eye, melted Swiss cheese, and a slathering of garlic aioli and punchy chimichurri.
Meanwhile, the Eastern menu showcases a bold fusion of Southeast Asian flavours, like Thai spring rolls filled with fragrant yellow chicken curry, slow-cooked and sticky glazed pork belly, and wok-fried beef pad se ew (best enjoyed with a side of katsu curry fries and a visit to the gelato shop next to the restaurant for dessert).
On the drinks front, the Comiskey Group’s recent acquisition of Eumundi Brewery couldn’t have come at a better time, with their popular ginger beer, pale ale, and lager on top at Dakabin Hotel—alongside crowd-favourites like Guiness, Stone & Wood, and Balter. Prefer cocktails? Try a twist on the mango daiquiri in the Mango Daka or the Comiskey Gin Sour made with gin from Comiskey Distillery. As for the expansive wine list, take your pick with everything from budget-friendly sips to top-shelf selections.
Locals will also be flocking to Dakabin Hotel’s Sin Bin Sports Bar—the home of live sports, an expansive LED screen, and a circular display so you don’t miss a moment of the action. Plus, the hotel is here to keep all ages busy, from the kids’ arcade complete with a half basketball court to electronic darts and pool tables in the sports bar. Friday knock offs and weekend outings will be soundtracked by live music and DJs after dark, while the sunken fireplace on the outdoor terrace is the perfect place to post up come winter.
The Dakabin Hotel is the crowning glory of the Dakabin Village, with plans for a bakery, brow studio, and barbershop to soon join the bustling precinct. Opening on Wednesday 21 May, be amongst the first to see what all the fuss is about by booking here.
