Yet another restaurant has been added to the now extensive Queen’s Wharf line up, with Cantonese-inspired HUA landing on The Terrace level on Wednesday 18 December. Offering up authentic Cantonese feeds with a contemporary flair, this new spot is set to be a serious contender in the battle for the next date night dinner spot.

Wrapping around a far corner of the mammoth dining precinct, the UNITA-built HUA is decked out with sleek but warm interiors that feature subtle nods to Cantonese tradition, like sophisticated hanging paper lanterns and a lotus flower-like light installation. Perfect for group dining, you can take your seat with a range of booths, round dining tables and bar seating available, so whether it’s a light lunch or a late night banquet, HUA has you covered.

Led by acclaimed Head Chef Ling Lee, the kitchen combines locally sourced and eco-conscious ingredients with expert traditional techniques and even some treasured recipes to dish up a new vibrancy to the Brisbane scene. Dishing up a menu of yum cha and signature banquets for their soft opening period, here the emphasis is on expertly hand-crafted dumplings, filled with everything from prawn and chives to pan-fried kimchi lamb.

On the banquet side, there’s two options to choose from depending on how hungry you are, with option two including the likes of salt and pepper squid, seafood san choi bow, pan-fried eye fillet in black pepper sauce, and of course, banana or pineapple fritters with vanilla ice cream for dessert, because no Cantonese dining experience is complete without them.

Whatever  you opt for, just be sure to start off with one (or a few) drinks to get the ball rolling, whether it’s a classic espresso martini or margarita, or one of their signature cocktails like the Cigar Lounge, freshly smoked with whiskey, chocolate syrup, and chocolate bitters. And of course, a whole range of beers and wines are available too.
