When the team behind Sister, Butter and Alby’s get cooking, you know you’re in for a treat and in this case, it comes in the form of a sleek red bakery now open on the bayside. 

Ilo Bakehouse is Wynnum’s new haven for specialty coffee and freshly baked goods with prime position on the Esplanade. While its sister venues are all about brekky dishes, the focus at Ilo are its pastries with signatures like the orange and cardamom knot, miso butterscotch croissant, and sourdough croissants. Come early if you want a full pick of the cabinet, as they’re literally flying out the door.

Single O is behind the brews, with ceremonial-grade matcha and their miso butterscotch iced latte both on tap. 

“We wanted to create a space that felt warm and welcoming but still had plenty of personality and a bit of a pop to it,” said director Daniel Bowles.
