Just about unrecognisable from its former days as Bar Spritz, Kangaroo Point's clifftop cafe Joey’s has an airy, coastal vibe, with interiors inspired by European summers, complete with the striped umbrellas. Make sure you grab a table overlooking the city views—though the seating is entirely outside, it’s all well and truly covered so you can stay dry and shaded no matter the weather.
On the menu, there’s something to cover you from morning to night, with breakfast starting at 6am and dinner and drinks available right up until midnight. If you’re there to greet the morning sun, you can tuck into plates of sweetcorn fritters with tomato relish and bacon, buttermilk pancakes with whipped ricotta or just a classic bacon and egg roll.
Once the clock ticks over to PM, there’s a lunch and dinner menu of fresh, Queensland flavours with a Euro spin. The prawn sandwich with cos lettuce, chilli and mayo is bound to be an instant favourite, but you can also share the likes of kingfish tartare with horseradish creme and pomegranate, buffalo milk burrata with heirloom tomatoes and kingfish tacos with herb slaw. For the main event, choices include blue swimmer crab linguine served in a bag, a slow cooked lamb shoulder with rosemary jus and a black Angus flank steak—or you can go hands on with one of the wood-fired pizzas on the list. To drink, there's plenty of sunset-worthy cocktails as well as wine and beer.
