Bold flavours, hand-stretched dough and good ol’ neighbourhood energy have been the hallmarks of Johnny Gio’s since they opened their first pizzeria in Bondi. And now, more than 20 locations later, they’re bringing the goods to Brisbane.
The crowd-fave pizza spot has opened their first Queensland store in New Farm, so you can get your hands on crisp slices fresh from their traditional Italian brick oven.
“At Johnny Gio’s, we’re not trying to reinvent pizza,” said founder, Jonathan Faro. “We’re focused on crafting them properly—with care, confidence, and plenty of personality.
Order up classics made right, like the best-selling Margherita or the fiery El Diablo. Johnny Gio’s signature flavours have also garnered a cult-like following down the east coast, from the Johnny Vodka with loaded mozzarella and pepperoni, the Sonny Honey drizzled with house-made hot honey, and the Burrata Queen which is as easy on the eyes as it is on the palate. Complete your Italian fast with the likes of vodka mac and cheese, JG’s meatballs, and banoffee for dessert.
“New Farm is just the beginning,” Faro said. “Brisbane has been on our radar for a long time. There’s a vibrant food culture here and an appetite for independent brands that take pride in what they do. It’s the natural next step for us.”
