Not sure what Balkan fare is? Even if you're not sure you could pinpoint a Balkan country on a map, you can get a crash course in this South Eastern European cuisine at Morningside's newest eatery, Kasina. Owners Dragan and Marija Sestic (who you may know from Dramanti Roasters) are keen to share their Bosnian and Serbian heritage with Brisbane, and knew the best way to do that was with food—and we agree.
Prepare to be schooled in the delights of pržene paprike (roasted red peppers with feta, burn onion and fried bread), ćevapi (minced beef and lamb sausages) and mućkalica (beef or pork roasted pepper goulash) as you work your way through the menu in the bright and airy venue. There's plenty of small and large share plates to choose from, all heavy on the hearty flavours, but if you're a bit overwhelmed, you can just opt for the six-course set menu, which will give you the full Balkan experience—including dessert which is a must-try.
