The Verdict

It might only be small, but this cosy East Brisbane restaurant packs a big punch in both flavour and character. Named for the two words which make us smile for a photo—cheese for us, kimchi if you’re in Korea—the venue is a fusion of Western and Korean fare, dished up in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

On the menu, creative casual fine dining feeds include confit duck pasta with hand-pulled Korean pasta, spicy octopus tartare and the star dish on the menu, Wagyu beef sous-vide for 16 hours and served with cauliflower puree. Plus there’s a lychee cocktail with your name on it, along with a smattering of beer, wine and spirits.

Kimchi Cheese Smile is also worth a visit for breakfast on the weekends, but if you’re looking for a new date night staple, this should be it.
