Lang’s Lounge

The busy Brunswick Street strip just past the Fortitude Valley mall has seen a few boozy new additions to its lineup in recent months, one of them being Lang’s Lounge, a boutique spot for cocktails with a difference. Step into this cosy bar and you’ll find comfy lounges, exposed brick walls and a cocktail list just begging to be sampled. 

Make sure you scope out the movie posters on the walls—they’ll give you a hint as to what the latest monthly theme is for the cinematically-minded bar. From romance for February to murder for March, the themes aren’t just a bit of fun, they also influence the cocktail specials, with a creative concoction for each of the four movies pictured added to the list each month. 

If you can never go past a classic though, there’s plenty of those being shaken and stirred up behind the bar too. They’re not without a unique spin—many of Lang’s Lounge’s cocktail ingredients are locally sourced, spirits and all. Think martinis made on Grandad jacks 65 Miles Gin and mojitos muddled up with Beenleigh White Rum. Owner and bartender James Lang is also a fan of fat-washing, milk clarifying and plenty of other cocktail making techniques, so prepare to be wowed by some interesting flavours.

For the non-cocktail connoisseurs out there, you can also sip on a short selection of wines and locally brewed beers.
