Before their James Street location opened its doors, you could only get Le Labo ‘pre-mixed’ at MECCA outlets or online, unless you were willing to travel to their Melbourne or Sydney stores. But now you can enjoy the proper experience: pick your fragrance and the perfumers at Le Labo will blend and bottle if for you right there on the spot. In front of you. You even get a custom message label wrapped around your bottle. Now that’s some serious perfumery.

You might have heard rumblings about Le Labo over the last few years. Basically it’s taken America by storm. Justin Bieber and Alexa Chung are both fans of their Santal 33 scent (the number beside each fragrance refers to the number of nasal ‘notes’ it contains). Beyoncé burned one of their candles in her album Lemonade. The brand started out in Manhattan in 2006, but it’s gained cult status since then, and this is Brisbane's first store, so it’s kind of a big deal.

More good news: everything in Le Labo is 100% vegan. Perfumes, candles, shampoos, beard oil—t’s all animal and cruelty-free. But his place has gotta be smelled to be believed, so get your ass to James Street for a new signature scent, or the ultimate boutique gift set.
