Luckies Kitchen is a playful, relaxed spot dishing up Southeast Asian flavours and quirky cocktails in a vibrant setting. Tucked up behind buzzing Oxford Street, the eatery is decidedly casual, featuring hanging lanterns, neon lighting and colourful posters on the walls.
As of March this year, new head chef Alfie has given the Chinese-leaning menu an East Asian makeover, with some fresh new dishes to try. Fans of their crispy eggplant chips, Sichuan calamari and sweet and sour pork can rest easy that plenty Luckies signatures have stuck around on the menu, but now you can pair them with innovative dishes like 12-hour sticky lamb ribs with by dòu chǐ caramel sauce, kung pao spatchcock and smoked duck yellow curry with sweet potato and peas.
If you just can't decide, the Luckies Banquet is a truly affordable option, with seven courses that include kingfish sashimi, rice net vegetable spring rolls, chilli chicken cashew salad and more for just $49pp. On Wednesday nights they also dishup 90 minutes of bottomless dim sum for $45pp, which is a bargain if we ever heard one.
While you feast, you can sip on inventive sips that have taken the 'playful' theme and run with it—think Vietnamese coffee-inspired espresso martinis, bubble tea cocktails and concoctions topped with floating rubber duckies. There's also a range of local wines and craft beers if you're too grown up for such nonsense.
