Newly opened in the heart of Rosalie village, Lulu Ramen isn’t your usual ramen spot. While you might be familiar with tonkotsu, a regular slurper of shoyo and a miso maven, this joint specialises in chicken broth ramen—and it’s worth adding to your noodle hit list.
Located in a bright and airy Japanese-inspired venue with colourful murals on the walls and glowing lanterns overhead, Lulu Ramen is sleek but relaxed, with tables for both large and small groups. The sake bottles lining the walls will give you an insight to what you’ll find on the drinks menu, with traditional sake, sake cocktails and non-alcoholic options available.
But onto the main event—the ramen. Though they specialise only in chicken ramen topped with tender chicken char siu, there’s more than one kind on the menu. You can opt for the chicken and bonito chintan ramen, which comes in a clear chicken and fish broth, or the spicy chicken paitan ramen, which features a white broth spiced with chili oil and dried garlic.
If you want to ramp it up, the chef’s special is their signature, taking the chintan ramen and loading it up with a soft boiled egg and black truffle sauce, while other options on the menu include two vegan ramens, plus a sakura mix dry ramen with duck breast if broth just isn’t your thing. Best of all, you can get unlimited noodle top ups with every variation, so come hungry.
On the side you can order up plates of pan-fried byozas, tempura, karaage chicken and edamame, plus a seaweed with sesame sauce dish we could eat a whole bowl of on our own.
