Miss Demeanour Brisbane

The Verdict

Tucked away in Rowes Lane just off Edward Street in the city is new dining and drinking spot Miss Demeanour. If you’ve been around since the days of Rosie’s Nightclub you might recognise the basement location as an icon of Brisbane’s old school night life (Sonny's House of Blues also called it home), but it has now been revamped into a casual cafe, bar and eatery that will please anyone looking to escape the peak hour craziness of the CBD. No matter what time of day you happen to drop by, Miss Demeanour has something for you to sink your teeth into.

A total escape from the concrete jungle above, the basement venue is the kind of place where brunch could easily morph into afternoon cocktails, with you being none the wiser about the sinking sun far above. For breakfast, tuck into a sweet or savoury version of massive, golden waffles, with either peanut butter and caramelised banana or house smoked thick cut bacon, maple syrup, walnuts and whipped salted butter to choose from. Later in the day, crispy pork belly is the ultimate hearty meal to pair with one of the craft beers on tap. Meanwhile, vegan and vegetarian foodies will froth over the menu, which includes vegan French toast for breakfast and vegan loaded fries complete with banana peel 'bacon' and vegan garlic aioli for lunch. And for the sweet tooths, get a load of the freshly made beignets, a deep-fried doughy treat that anyone who's been to New Orleans will be unable to resist.
