Bringing Southern Cali vibes to Mitchelton, brothers Tze-Huei and Chewie Choo have teamed up with Chef Ash Kettle to transform a character-filled corner store into a breezy, neighbourhood spot for all day brunching, Mitch & Antler. Queues are already out the door on weekends for a table in the cottage-like cafe, which hides peachy pink walls behind a teal and brick exterior, though you can hit the takeaway window for a coffee while you wait if the caffeine withdrawals are getting to you. 

Breaking away from the norm, the Mitch & Antler kitchen is dishing up quirky takes on your classic brunch favourites, inspired by Australia’s ever-evolving cafe culture and multicultural diversity, as well as culinary icons like Bill Granger and Yottam Ottolenghi. They’ve got our mouths watering at the sound of their jamon croffle—a waffle croissant stuffed with poached eggs, jamon, and wattle seed hollandaise, and their ricotta hotcakes served with a hazelnut praline, miso caramel and fresh banana. 

Other options on the breakfast menu you’ll struggle to go past include truffle scrambled eggs, pickled cauliflower fritters, ricotta gnocchi and a shared breakfast board, while those looking for something more lunch-worthy can wrap their hands around a chicken katsu sando. Of course, a variation of drink options including coffee, juices, smoothies or even mocktails are available to complement your meal.
