Mr Vain

Coming to us from the team behind Dirty Sultan and Rose Room is Mr Vain, a sultry new restaurant taking over the laneway space where Longtime used to reside in the Valley. Opening this Friday 21 October, Mr Vain is all about elegant, Euro-inspired dining, and their sleek interiors certainly reflect that—think moody lighting, exposed brick walls and leather banquette seating. 

The minimalist, sophisticated menu takes local, seasonal produce and transforms it into simple yet bold entrees like spanner crab with crème fraiche and langos, hasselback potato with coastal herbs, washed rind cheese and chives, and octopus with soured tomato, coconut and black lime. Mains are equally as mouth-watering, including options like Wagyu brisket with molasses, beetroot, puffed tendons and chimichurri and whole roast duck with honey and blackberry. 

Equal importance has been placed on the bar menu, with a round up of cocktails that make use of cutting-edge concepts and a wine list focusing on natural, skin contact and minimal-intervention wines.
