Hidden in the depths of brand spanking new Japanese restaurant Hôntô, hides ÔÔ—Brisbane's slick new hidden bar.
Once you find the (very) discreet entrance in Alden St in Fortitude Valley (it quite literally looks like a doorway to nowhere) and wind along an almost pitch black hallway, it greets you with head-to-toe moody black walls, celiings, floors—and the odd chandelier.
We've given Hôntô its own little write up here, because right now we're here for the drinks. And damn, are they good at ÔÔ. Behind the hustle and bustle of the restaurant, hides a jaw-droppingly grown up bar. Also decked out in head-to-toe black, this narrow bar is chic to the max.
Hang at the bar and watch your expertly mixed cocktail poured just the way you like it, or take a seat along the low seating on the other side of the room. Either is a bloody good choice. Choose from a plethora of Japanese vodkas, gins, whiskys, boutique wines and beers; the gang's all here and are ready for knocking back in expensive glassware. What can we say, we're just bloody fancy like that...
Now, let's talk cocktails; did we mention that ÔÔ's cocktails are Kill Bill-inspired? Fans of Quentin Tarantino's iconic double act will recognise characters names used to create some of their finest concoctions: Beatrice Kiddo, O-Ren Ishii—even Pai Mei's whispy beard gets a mention...
Whether you're stopping off for a pre-dinner drink, or you're just here for a bloody good cocktail, you won't be disappointed.
