Parklands Social

As one of the oldest residential neighbourhoods in Brisbane, Spring Hill’s dining scene has always been steady and consistent but Parklands Social is the new opening introducing a slice of the Big Apple to shake things up.

The New York-inspired bar and grill is a nod to the delis and neighbourhood institutions that fuel the boroughs, where you can stop in for a morning coffee after a stroll through Roma Street Parkland or settle in for a dinner with a classic cocktail in hand.

The menu mirrors the cultural hot pot that makes New York so great, borrowing global influences and channeling them through a Queensland lens. Comforting matzo balls are served in a chicken broth. There’s the stacked Reuben sandwich with house-made pastrami cured and smoked over hickory and Australian ironbark (served with pickles and fries, naturally). The NY strip lets the grill do the talking paired simply with Café de Paris butter. Plus, a tight offering of pastas like good ol’ spaghetti meatballs round off the menu. 

“New York’s food culture is built on influences from all over the world, so it gives us the freedom to stay true to those classic dishes while using incredible Australian produce,” said Executive Chef Matthew Glover. “We’re not trying to reinvent them. We just want to cook them properly.”

When in New York, you get a Manhattan so the cocktail list is filled with timeless staples and Parklands Social’s signatures like the Spicy Vodgarita with Morita Chipotle Vodka. The interiors are sophisticated yet cosy, welcoming you to settle into the deep green banquettes or kick back in the alfresco terrace.
