Considering how many bridges crisscross the Brisbane River, it was only a matter of time before we got our first restaurant on a bridge, and with the opening of Stilts, the new green bridge from Kangaroo Point to the city features just that. Tassis Group, the team behind eateries like Opa, Fatcow, Pompette and more, has opened its most unique venue yet—and the views are unmatched.

Perched right over the water, with an airy, open setting that makes the most of the daylight streaming in from every direction, this upscale dining and drinking spot features a mix of both indoor and outdoor dining. Inside, you can slide into one of the massive circular leather booths lining the windows, perfect for larger groups, while tables out on the terrace score uninhibited views of the city skyline and Story Bridge.

The menu is a luxe celebration of Queensland’s unique lifestyle, and includes a few Brisbane firsts—namely a live Moreton Bay bug tank on top of Tassis Group’s signature live lobster and oyster tanks. You’ll want to start things off with snacks like beef tartare cannelloni and bourbon butter baked oysters, before digging into handmade wagyu flat iron beef dumplings and roasted bone marrow beef crudo.

Save plenty of room for the main event though, which comes in the form of Moreton Bay bug straight from the tank and linguini pasta, an elevated take on surf and turf (think dry aged sirloin with a swordfish steak), lobster smoked over charcoal and plenty of dry aged steaks from the grill. Be sure to peruse the 180 bottle-strong wine list as well, though there’s the usual selection of beers, spirits and non-alcoholic options too.
