Joining the ever-growing line up of eateries and bars at Portside Wharf in Hamilton is Temple Boba, a stunning new bubble tea spot pouring both traditional and creative bubble teas. Here you can design your own brewed, fruit or milk tea with your choices of flavour, temperature, sweetness level and toppings, as well as nibble on mochi doughnuts.
The store itself, designed by Muscolino Shaw with a fit out by Lowry Group, is far more luxe than your typical bubble tea spot, with a deep burgundy space (even the floor is red) broken up by a glass-tiled wall and marble table. A hidden booth tucked away in the corner is the perfect spot to catch up on emails while you sip your chosen tea, or you can nab a table out in the laneway.
As for the tea options, well, you’re spoilt for choice here. First you select your base drink, which can be brewed tea, fruit tea in flavours like peach, lychee or passionfruit, or milk tea flavoured with taro, matcha, brown sugar and more. There’s even multiple milk options for the non-dairy drinkers. Next, you’ll decide whether you want it hot or cold, and add in sugar or ice, before adding your optional toppings, which include custard, taro pudding, aloe vera and coconut jelly.
Good to know: There’s also smaller, caffeine-free options for kids, so the whole family can join in on the fun.
