The Details

a plate of banana bread topped with fruit and nuts

No, that address isn't a typo—West End's iconic Gunshop Cafe has opened a second joint in Toowong, bringing their delicious brunch eats (and their decade or so of hospitality experience) to the western 'burbs. Landing on Jephson Street, just around the corner from the busy Toowong Village, the new cafe is sleek and modern where the West End venue is rustic and industrial, with seating inside and out.

On the menu, you'll find a few old favourites from the OG location, including their potato and feta hash cakes, sweet potato and thyme rosti with haloumi and poached eggs, and their smashed avo with strawberries and Persian feta. If you're anything like us though, you'll go straight for the light menu, where small dishes like their bacon and egg brekky burger and toasted banana bread topped with honey labneh and salted peanut caramel are just $12 a pop, meaning you can oder two of them for the same amount of dosh as a single larger brunch dish. Or at least, that's what we did, and we highly recomend the strategy to anyone else who suffers from severe savoury versus sweet ordering indecision.
