The Verdict

During its heyday, The Normanby Hotel was the location of choice for many punters young and old searching for a cold beer on a hot summer’s day. Its Sunday sessions were nearly as legendary as the home of Queensland football, Suncorp Stadium, nearby. After a $3 million redevelopent, the historic and iconic Brisbane hotel has re-opened its doors to reclaim its status as Brisbane’s original local pub.

At the heart of the newly refurbished venue is a new fig tree—planted to replace the iconic 100-year-old tree that went down in the 2016 storm. The beer garden has been given a complete makeover, with a deck alongside dotted with striped umbrellas, perfect for sunny Sunday sessions. Inside, meanwhile, you'll barely recognise the old girl—a new bistro features plush velvet seating and exposed brick walls, while three seperate bar areas each have their own charm, with function spaces upstairs yet to come.

It's not only the grand old pubs appearance that's been changed either—you'll find a menu full of re-imagined pub classics to feast on, with top notch drinks to match.
