Positioned right behind the bank of eateries on Brunswick Street that includes PJ's Steaks, Reverends Fine Coffee, and Fat Dumpling, California Lane is a burgeoning precinct that can now add dessert bar, The Stand to their mix of foxy attractions.
Borne of Shay Hayston’s sweet tooth, The Stand is a neon-lit paradise of desserts and cocktails at all hours, even the wee ones. The fitout is like tropical pop art with icing drip tables and flamingos furnishing the open laneway space.
The menu includes classics, like sticky-date pudding, black forest cake and even the iconic ambrosia salad, that have each been broken down and built up as thoroughly modern dishes. It’s revival at its finest, and each dish comes with a matching cocktail.
