a plate of octopus carpaccio

A glamorous riverside restaurant overlooking the Story Bridge, Tillerman is a relaxed, yet opulent love letter to Queensland’s spectacular produce, climate and water views. Designed by Hogg & Lamb, the venue features a mix of banquet, booth and round table seating, with rattan chairs, botanical cushions and mustard yellow leather benches. Best of all, you can catch a glimpse of river views from every seat in the house.

What’s on the plate is just as aesthetically pleasing, with a menu influenced by everywhere from the Spanish coast to modern Australia. Feast on seafood like Moreton Bay bug vol-au-vent, battered Balmain bug and charcoal-grilled octopus, or more land-based produce, from hand-made roast pumpkin ravioli and mushroom pie to roast duck breast and T-bone steaks.

As for what to pair your meal with, the cocktail list definitely offers a few surprises, including a section dedicated entirely to very sophisticated daiquiris. There’s a lengthy list of other creative sips to choose from if daiquiris bring back too many repressed memories, including several zero proof cocktails, as well as a 40 odd pages of wines, beers and spirits.

If you need more reasons to dine, right now Tillerman is offering up a five-piece long winter lunch banquet for $59pp. Take the afternoon off and take in the views as you linger over crispy squid with truffle tartar; grilled chicken skewers wih flatbread, charred pineapple and red pepper sauce; shoestring fries; pan-fried broccolini; and your choice of either crispy skin barramundi or an angus flat iron steak.
