A new coffee joint has hit Brisbane, but they’re certainly not the newbies on the block. Toby’s Estate has been a household name for many years and their premium roastery and flagship in Chippendale, Sydney is a testament to their superiority in the bean business. 

Queenslanders aren’t new to the Sydney-based brand, with cafés across the state stocking their speciality blends—but this is the first time we get to sample the coffee brand in its own premium Brisbane flagship venue. Tucked in at the end of Doggett Street in Newstead, the new coffee joint is an 11 out of 10 on the cool scale with a circular espresso and filter bar where you can chat to the baristas front and centre, surrounded by casual seating.

The exposed brick and raw ply interiors may have you feeling like you should be ordering a cocktail, but don’t be fooled, it’s still 7am—we do think it should be mandatory for cafés to play house music in the mornings now though. As well as pouring specialty coffees, the cafe dishes up a variety of light breakfasts, or if you're in a rush, just grab a canned latte and an almond croissant to-go.
