The market for breakfast burgers has just expanded, with the Gold Coast's Two Yolks bringing their egg and bacon-loaded buns to South Brisbane from Monday 3 June. If you haven't heard of this Burleigh spot, their menu boasts no less than 11 different breakfast burgers, so you can bet that however you like your eggs, you're going to be covered here.
From the mastermind behind Finn Poke (which has also just opened right next door) and Sydney’s Daily Greens, Two Yolks was created with the help of prestigious Los Angeles chef, Charles Olalia, who lends his Michelin Star pedigree to a retro, laid-back dining experience. Don't expect just any old bacon slapped on bread here—Two Yolks has levelled up every aspect of their offering, from sourcing top notch bacon from Byron's Bangalow Pork and using organic, free range eggs to making their own sauces and grinding their own grass fed, hormone-free Cape Grim beef in house.
Classic options include the BEC, a simple stack of bacon, egg, American cheese and chipotle aioli, but you can also go for something more creative like the Bourdain's Mortadella with mortaella, provolone cheese, egg and dijonaise or a hefty Triple B, with bacon, pork sausage, a smashed beef patty, American cheese, egg, tater tots and BBQ sauce. And yes, you can get tater tots on the side as well—they even come loaded with eggs and bacon if you want to ditch the bun all together.
The new store is open for breakfast through to dinner, so you can get your egg-fix at any hour of the day, but if bacon for dinner isn't your style, there's also a range of smashed beef and chicken burgers, as well as vegan options. Bonus, while they're still waiting on their liquor license for now, soon you'll be able to pair it all with breakfast cocktails, craft beers and seltzers, as well as thickshakes (including boozy ones), freshly squeezed juices. A bacon and egg burger and a mimosa for dinner? Yes please.
If you're lucky, the DJ decks at the back of the venue might be manned during your visit, to add extra vibes to your feed.
