Is this the bubbliest spot in town? Winnifred’s is bringing all things Champagne to Arthur Street, across a gorgeous bar, bistro and garden with over 360 cuvees and a rotating list of Champagnes by the glass—curated by a team whose exceptional knowledge is only matched by their passion for true hospitality.

The venture is a labour of love for founder Megan Nunn, who was inspired to explore her fascination with Champagne after being diagnosed with a life threatening brain tumour at 28. Following years venturing the rolling vineyards of the region and meeting the producers redefining the Champagne game, Winnifred’s was born as a place for you to settle in and experience the unmatched potential of masterfully crafted Champagne.

“[Winnifred’s] invites you to explore the diversity of extraordinary, unique terroir-driven Champagnes—from growers and Grande Marque houses—and tempt you, as the mouthwatering scent of our French fare awakens your appetite,” said Nunn. “To stay for a meal with us, unhurried. To keep coming back to a place you feel completely at home. To linger a little longer and stay for ‘just one more glass’.”

Boasting different spaces drawing inspiration and names from the five different regions of Champagne, Winnifred’s is a love letter to France’s finest fizz. There’s the Coteaux du Petit Morin—a 16-seat Champagne garden welcoming walk-ins, alongside Winnifred’s concierge and Champagne store with bottles for purchase. Vallee de la Marne is an 18-seat Champagne bar and cellar, while the remainder of the ground level is occupied by the 60-seat bistro, Montagne de Reims. Upstairs, you’ll find the venue’s two event spaces: Cote des Bar and Cote des Blancs (the Blue Room and the White Room, respectively).

Besides the whopping 363 Champagnes and the ever-changing ‘by the glass’ menu, Winnifred’s will offer a curated wine list to enjoy in the French bistro—spotlighting sips from across the country. On the menu, Head Chef Antoine Potier (previously Restaurant Dan Arnold and E’cco Bistro) will be taking cues from the Champagne region and its unique makers to dish up French cuisine with an innovative twist.

As for the name? “No matter who you were, no matter where you were from, everyone always felt like they belonged at my ‘nanna’ Winnifred’s home,” said Nunn. “I felt this same enveloping warmth of welcome on my very first visit to the growers of Champagne over ten years ago, when they invited me into their homes and their lives—generously sharing their knowledge, passion and extraordinary Champagnes and  leaving me with the sense that I was part of their extended family. “

Winnifred’s is set to open in August.
