The Gold Coast is scoring what is arguably its most luxury hotel to date and here’s what you need to know.
Slated to open in Burleigh Heads in 2025, the 208-room beachfront Mondrian Gold Coast marks the luxury hotel brand’s debut in Australia, featuring multiple restaurants, pools and 89 residential apartments with its signature mix of immersive design and luxury with a creative twist.
A Los Angeles-born brand, Mondrian has redefined what lifestyle hospitality can be, creating jaw-droppingly stunning properties that elevate the hotel experience unlike anything we’ve seen before. With 11 properties in some of the world’s most established and emerging destinations—including Singapore, New York, Cannes, Ibiza, Bordeaux and more—Mondrian knows how to bring a city’s unique spirit to life. And the Gold Coast is up next.
This new luxury escape will be located in the heart of Burleigh Heads, with panoramic oceanfront and hinterland views. Designed by leading Australian architecture firm Fraser & Partners, the 24-storey hotel is a true architectural statement, celebrating the best of Burleigh’s natural beauty.
Inside, the hotel’s 208 rooms—which include studios, suites, exclusive two- and three-bedroom Beach Houses and the hotel-crowning Sky House—have been imagined by design house Studio Carter, drawing inspiration from the nearby sandy, pandanus-lined shores. The interiors blend coastal charm with contemporary elegance, creating warm, inviting spaces that echo the natural textures and tones of Burleigh’s coastline.
Mondrian Gold Coast also houses multiple restaurants designed by the award-winning Alexander & Co, including a ground-floor restaurant with a sun-dappled terrace and for those looking for a bit more elevation, the hotel’s third-floor oceanfront restaurant and pool club combine stunning ocean views with fresh, local flavours and a buzzing beach club energy.
An impressive wellness space and spa specialising in future-forward treatments, as well as a hybrid events space that promises to be the perfect setting for everything from intimate gatherings to larger celebrations, completes the scene for the Gold Coast’s most exciting new arrival.
Chadi Farhat, Brand COO of Mondrian Hotels & Residences, couldn’t be more excited about this debut, noting that the Gold Coast was a natural choice for the brand’s Australian entrance.
“Over the last couple of years, we have seen a rising demand for lifestyle brands, where locals and international guests are looking for authentic, creative and immersive experiences—all the hallmarks of the Mondrian brand. It felt a natural choice to bring Mondrian to the Gold Coast and we believe it will resonate strongly with the local market and lend something entirely new to the hospitality space”, Farhat said.
Mondrian Gold Coast is set to be much more than a place to stay—it’s a space to truly experience the Gold Coast in a new, dynamic way. With breathtaking design, world-class dining, an innovative wellness offering, and deep local connections, Mondrian Gold Coast is ready to become the ultimate destination for travellers and locals alike.
