From humble beginnings as a hotspot for family getaways, The Mornington Peninsula is today just as synonymous with those seeking a more luxurious escape. This can be attributed to the 200+ wineries in the area, indulgent experiences and accommodation—and now, the opening of Alba Thermal Springs and Spa is set to offer another reason to visit the region.

Opening Wednesday 26 October, Alba Thermal Springs will offer a contemporary experience like no other in Australia. The bathing will be just one star of the show, with Alba leaning on the geothermal springs across the 15-hectare property with over 31 stunning pools—some which can be booked privately.

In the higher grounds of Alba, you'll find 'The Hemisphere' an elevated tranquil space with hidden gardens, a cold plunge pool and even 'The Hide' a semi-enclosed thermal pool.

Alba has 22 expansive spa treatment rooms, including a steam room, Vichy shower, and single or double massage rooms. Visitors can choose from more than 30 spa services encompassing facial, body and water-based treatments. The spa complex features a separate manicure and pedicure suite. On the mezzanine level of the main spa building is a spacious relaxation lounge featuring private booths and oversized day beds, overlooking the extensive native gardens.

Behind the build and working closely with Alba is architecture practice, Hayball, which focuses on progressive urban design, while Mala Studio will create a landscape to complement the space and pools.

Alongside the state-of-the-art spa will be an in-house restaurant, Thyme, which will be under the culinary direction of none other than Australian food icon, Karen Martini who alongside head chef Mario Di Natale have crafted a range of dishes together. “I'm so excited to be partnering with Alba on this project... the all-day menu I am creating will feature fresh, wholesome dishes with modern Mediterranean influences", says Martini.

The restaurant seats up to 120 diners and will put a focus on the quality food and wine available on the Peninsula, with the menu changing seasonally. Thyme provides visitors with a combination of indoor and rooftop terrace dining, with views across the Peninsula.
