Brunetti Classico Is Expanding Its Empire—This Time Into Moonee Ponds

By

The institution that brings authentic Roman Italian to Melbourne—Brunetti Classico—is coming to Moonee Ponds this November.

Since 1985, Brunetti Classico has operated one of the most beloved Italian Pasticcerias on Calton’s Lygon Street, offering a plethora of handmade cakes, pastries, paninis and pizzas, made freshly on-site, day in and day out. For many, it’s a home away from home, with authentic Italian espresso and aperitifs served from sunrise to dark.

The new Brunetti’s will be situated in Moonee Ponds’ Penny Lane—a newly established entertainment precinct—among other hospitality venues alongside the new luxury rooftop Palace Cinema complex.

Fabio Angele of Brunetti Classico said that with all the developments happening in Moonee Ponds, the population of residents and workers is set to soar—making Penny Lane the ideal hospitality hub for the future.

“It will offer the experience we’re known for—where customers can visit our new location and feel the experience of Italy without paying for the airfare,” explains Fabio.

On-brand with Calton’s bustling atmosphere, the new site will stretch across 345 sqm, seating more than 130 customers, from 7am until late.

This location will be where tradition meets innovation. Expect a new concept cake boutique for all your celebration needs, a gelateria just in time for the warmer months, along with all the trusted artisanal and handmade cannoli, semifreddo desserts and more the Calton pastry chefs have been serving up for decades.

Pouring Brunetti Classico’s custom coffee blend, roasted locally by Griffiths Bros., locals will be able to do it like the Italians and pick up a silky macchiato on their daily commute.

“Breakfast will be presented Italian style and how customers love best with a coffee and Danish pastry at the bar,” said Fabio.

More substantial brunch and lunch options like classic paninis, arancini and pizza al taglio will be available for those craving a quick bite.

Clock off from work with an Italian beer, or a cocktail from Brunetti’s new menu, while picking at a made-to-order antipasto board. Or secure yourself a late-night dessert after catching a movie — Friday night sorted.

The Brunetti’s team are gearing up for the grand opening, adding to their already-established staff of more than 200, to make the Moonee Ponds’ cafe the perfect Italian destination.

An exact opening date for this new location is yet to be confirmed, head over here for all the latest updates.
