It’s been a tough fortnight out there, and while us Melburnians are missing plenty of our usual rituals, one that’ll be at the top of most’s lists is no doubt the act of dining out. Most of your favourite haunts are holding to resume trade until tomorrow or the weekend, though one valiant locale is swinging open the doors smack bang at 11:59pm tonight right as lockdown lifts—and they’re giving away free burgers to celebrate.

The diner in question is Chapel Street’s Hello Sam, a South Yarra stalwart whose burgers are a favourite among those south of the river. They’re celebrating not only Melbourne’s reopening, but their entrant—The Fine Dining Burger—into the LITT Burger of Origin National Burger Competition. So it makes sense that to claim your freebie, all you need to do is wear a black tie into Hello Sam at 11:59pm tonight.

Those wanting to cash in on the freebies, but also wanting to sleep tonight, can try their luck via the LITT app. There, you’ll be able to keep up to speed with the Burger of Origin and have a crack at one of 10 free burgers daily from Melbourne’s four finalists, Hello Sam, Easeys, ItsaBurger, and Rude Boy Burgers via an AR burger hunt.

You can find Hello Sam at 760 Chapel Street, Prahran. Doors open 11:59pm tonight—don’t forget your tie.

In the meantime, scope out every other burger you need to try around Melbourne here.
