Naught Gin’s New Cocktail Bar And Distillery Is Eltham’s Hidden Gem You Need To Visit

By

A white building with 'Naught' written at the top of it. Blue skies in the background.
Set out in the leafy streets of Eltham in the northeast of Melbourne, Naught Gin has just unveiled its incredibly charming cocktail bar and distillery. Located down on Peel Street in Eltham's industrial estate, the all-new venue is a big move for the gin makers who started back in 2016. Starting with humble beginnings owner and head distiller, Chris Cameron,  ditched his teaching career for the pursuit of botanical perfection.
The cocktail bar eludes serious elegance with a heavy early 20th century New York inspiration; take the curved leather booth seating, the half-sphere lamps and the teal-coloured velvet couches. Designed by Studio Y the feature piece is an absolutely striking collection of dried botanicals that hangs from the ceiling, an installation that leads the eyes down to the copper-heavy distillery.
The full gin lineup is on display here, from Naught's navy-style to their London Dry number. The cocktail list here is extensive and botanical centric, take your pick from a staple martini to the 'Casino' with dry gin, maraschino liqueur, lemon juice and orange bitters.
Accompanying the fragrant gin is a tall order, but Naught has devised a food menu that is designed to complement the flavours of both spirit and snack. There's a selection of charcuterie boards of terrines and small goods, cheese boards laden with local produce and even smaller delicacies like Ortiz sardines and caviar.

Here's where to find a democracy sausage when you vote in the federal election.
