Already love The Queen Victoria Market? It's about to get even better. The well established go-to for some of the best food and produce in Melbourne, Queen Vic will soon be home to a three-storey library. The new development has been endorsed for $450 million by the Melbourne City council and is set to open in 2023.

The 3,100m² Murno community library will feature a range of community spaces—including a rooftop reading area, auditorium and commercial kitchen. So, you’ll be able to flick through your favourite book, coffee in hand, under the sun.

The new library which will open on Therry Street will feature spaces, services and programs designed with input from First Nations people. Mayor Sally Capp said that a library in the city’s north will improve access for residents and activate the growing precinct and population.

“The Munro community hub location will make it easier for local residents to access library services, while also driving visitation to the precinct and encouraging creativity and innovation”,  said Sally.

Along with the library, the Munro site will also feature retail outlets, a boutique hotel, residential apartments and a community hub to renew the QVM precinct. Find out more information here.
