Everything You Need To Know About The Nine Day Rosé Festival Coming To The Yarra Valley

By Rick Stephens

The warmer months bring with them a solid excuse to drink (more) rosé (than you usually would). The stuff is perfect in the sun, with antipasti, grazing platters and of course with seafood—it’s a true all-rounder that should be celebrated in all its glory over long, balmy afternoons.

Fortunately for you, us and fellow rosé obsessors, a healthy grip of Yarra Valley winemakers are throwing a nine day festival in honour of the stuff called Rosé Evolution. Fun and funky pet nats, skin contacts and more classically tipped dry rosé are all on the menu, and while you can’t go wrong at any of the events happening across Saturday 20 to Sunday 28 November, there are several must-drink sessions, highlights and picnics you should be booking in for stat.

Sky High Rosé

The Yarra Valley is well-known for at least two things, wine and hot air ballooning, so it only makes sense that Rosé Evolution would combine the two for one truly incredible bucket list experience. You’ll be taking flight at a brisk 4:30am before floating peacefully across the surrounding wineries while working your way through a rosé tasting session. Head over here for more information and tickets.

Rosé Oyster Bar At The Giant Steps

This one does exactly what it says on the tin, and if you’re anything like us, you’re probably already sold. Just in case you need a little convincing, however, this one includes a glass of Giant Steps famed rosé along with a quartet of oysters at a modest $35. Shell out an extra $20 and they’ll double the bivalves on your plate—sign yourself up here.

Hidden Igloo Rosé High Tea

A little mystery with your rosé, anyone? Make your way out to a secret location where you and up to seven mates will be set up in your own private igloo overlooking the rolling hills of the Yarra Valley. Included in each ticket is 2.5 hours free-flowing De Bortoli and Steels Gate Rosés along with a curated sweet and savoury high tea menu. For more information and tickets, click here.

Rosé and Raw At Denton Vineyard

Denton Wines is getting together with Melbourne mainstay Izakaya Den for a glorious food and wine pairing experienced only at Rosé Evolution. On show will be Denton’s first ever premium Nebbiolo Rosé while Izakaya Den will be on kitchen duties, serving up their fresh (and predominantly raw) take on Japanese cuisine. Head here for more information and tickets.

Rosé All Day Spring Soirée at Medhurst Wines

A mouthful in all the right ways, Medhurst Wines are throwing a boujee rosé-centric afternoon at their gorgeous locale overlooking the Yarra Valley’s wine-rich peaks and troughs. Plenty of oysters, canapes, watermelon punch and an opportunity to to try Medhurst Wines new release 2021 rosé. This way for tickets and more information.
