Bloomwood
THE VERDICT
Nestled between skyscapers in the eternal hustle and bustle of Exhibition Street in the CBD, this brand spankin’ new bakery has carved a croissant-shaped hole in our hearts.
From the same team that cooked up Sloppy Joe’s Deli, Bloomwood blends French pastry perfection with irresistible Asian flavours to create aesthetic baked goods that (actually) taste as good as they look.
Easily the unsung hero of this creative cafe has to be their Bloomtini. This adorable delight consists of three skewered baby croissants and is an optional addition to every drink. Perfect when eaten alone or dipped in your bevvie of choice. Also—can we just say—literally where else would you get this.
These legends are serving up all your usual suspects alongside kooky creations like their coconut iced matcha, citrus cream brew and everyone’s fave, a strawberry (ichigo on the menu) iced matcha.
While the drinks are all equally as sippable, the food is where it’s at. Trending RN is their blueberry matcha croissant, a flaky delicacy topped with fresh blueberries and oozing with a generous combination of compote and matcha mascarpone.
Also on the rise is Bloomwood’s embodiment of sunshine, the Lemon Lychee Flower. The danish-esque number balances crunchy, lemon curd-filled pastry with smooth mascarpone. Warning: This treat’s daisy-like design renders it extremely Instagrammable.
On the savoury side of things, the corn cheese danish is taking charge. Inspired by its Korean street food namesake, this baked good includes a creamy béchamel sauce and corn cheese mix, topped with parmesan cheese and grilled corn.
With an ever-rotating menu guaranteeing no two visits are the same, it’s no surprise this bakery is going viral. Prepare to fight off foodies and clash with hungry commuters—or, you know, just get there nice and early to get the good stuff.
