It’s official: Instagram sensation Duzenman has just opened its impeccably-styled doors on High St. This is the brand’s first bricks and mortar store—more of a leather emporium really (owner Samantha Duzenman calls it an ‘atelier’)—and they’ve picked a good spot for it. High St Armadale was made for shops like this. Exquisite boutiques that you can peruse at your leisure while waiting for a table at nearby High Society or Moby 3143. Local brands with a luxe edge.
Duzenman built its name on beautifully-made leather accessories: handbags, clutches and purses, hand stitched from the finest French and Italian leather. It’s the brainchild of Samantha Duzenman, an industrial designer who started the brand back in 2012. Since then it’s grown in leaps and bounds, slowing down only slightly when Samantha gave birth to her first child two years ago.
“After a few months of becoming a mum, I wanted to get back into work and continue this journey more than ever,” she says. “I may have had less time on my hands, but there’s nothing like becoming a mum to slingshot you into action to following your personal goals.”
What sets Duzenman apart is a) the quality of the materials, and b) the tailored nature of the bags themselves. These are one-of-a-kind pieces that you customise yourself. Mix and match between textures, colours and finishes. Play with straps, buckles and accessories. Samantha will be on-hand to walk you through the process, helping you create something totally bespoke (and a little bit badass).
