THE VERDICT
Think pizza couldn't get any better? Think again.
This Roman-style 'pinsa' joint, which spruiks a crumblier crust that's more of a mouthful has opened in Richmond, complete with cheese sommeliers, a burrata bar, antipasti pros and 10,000 bottles of liquor on display.
Flour Child, which you might know from its outpost in St Kilda, has opened a second iteration on and makes its home in a former dance studio above Church Street.
The refurb on the space has given it a retractable rooftop, banquette seating (think extra glam with plenty of marble and brass) and a grand central bar that runs the length of the restaurant.
FYI, Roman-style pinsa is a little bit more like focaccia, opposed to the crispy wood-fired Napoletana-style we’re accustomed to in Melbourne.
The new venue is courtesy of Simon Kouba, who recently opened CBD cocktail bar The Valiant, the OG Flour Child in St Kilda, and is attached to Il Mercato Centrale.
