The Verdict

Melbourne is full of surprises, but we’re pretty sure that there’s no other bar in the city quite as spectacular as Melbourne glamping (that’s glamorous camping for you newbies) bar, Glamp. Situated on Little Collins Street in the space above modern African restaurant polēpolē, Glamp is the *only* venue in Melbourne that will let you drink mouth-watering cocktails and nibble on African-style snacks under safari-style canvas.

If you haven’t yet made it to this unique African-inspired bar, you’re in for a treat. The space has three distinctive areas—a spacious seating area inside a stunning safari tent, an open bar with enough space for a boogie, and a cosy private seating area that’s hidden behind Heavyweight—the resident rhino. You can book a table for a pre-dinner drink, or have an entire area set aside for a private party, simply let the Glamp team know you’re coming.

When it comes to cocktails, these guys know all there is to putting an African twist on your favourite flavours, with house infusions and top-shelf spirits on the menu. You can’t overlook the incredible coffee cocktail list—Glamp’s bar manager, Ben Hehir, trained under Dick Bradsell, the legend who invented the Espresso Martini. The Silver Back Espresso Martini is a heavy-hitter that’s vying for the title of best martini in Melbourne, or if you’re looking for something refreshing for summer nights, the Glamping Aviation, made with lavender and blueberry infused gin is an absolute winner.

Better yet, you’ll find selected cocktails for only TEN BUCKS all night on Thursdays, and until 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Saving for your very own safari trip, but still keen of a taste of something exotic? This penny-pinching deal has your cocktail cravings covered.

If you’re beginning to feel peckish, Glamp’s recently revamped food menu delivers the goods. Two cheese and charcuterie boards have been added as sharing options, as well as a variety of savoury ‘cigars’ made from Tunisian pastry that make for tasty vego and meat-lovers’ snacks. Overdosed on the cheese? Dance it off on Friday and Saturday nights, when local afrobeat, dancehall and African R&B DJs take charge of the sound system.

Whether you’re in the mood for a cheeky post-work drink, looking for your next date spot, or simply keen to tick another cocktail venue off your list, Glamp definitely won’t disappoint.
