Calling all bubble tea enthusiasts: Milksha has just landed in Melbourne’s CBD. While there are over 240 outlets in Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Macau, the Melbourne location is the only one in Australia. Dubbed the best bubble tea brand in Taiwan, Milksha sets itself apart from other competitors by using 100% fresh milk, flash-frozen freshly squeezed fruit juice, cane sugar and ingredients without preservatives or artificial colourings.

Manager Peter Huang chose to open up the shop in Melbourne because it is the foodie capital of the country, a cosmopolitan city with people willing to try all sorts of new products and a steadily growing market of bubble tea drinkers. Milksha has an environmental focus by using biodegradable bamboo straws and paper bags and cup holders to reduce their global footprint. Milksha is also big on supporting local farmers, partnering with award-winning St David’s Dairy for its fresh milk and for specialising in sustainable practices offering small scale processing.

The Melbourne store offers five types of drinks: fresh milk, tea latte, specialty, plain teas and yoghurt drinks, some of which use luxury Valrhona cocoa and matcha from century-old Japanese brand Izumo Tousuien. What’s more- the brand makes its own signature honey pearls which are cooked in honey as well as using fresh taro milk where the unique taro is imported from Taiwan, smashed by hand and then blended with milk. Other must-have toppings include rice pudding, red beans and herbal fairy-grass jelly...how exotic.

So whether you are bubble tea’s #1 fan or have never tried the mysterious milk drink before...pop into the Elizabeth Street Milksha store and prepare to be blown away.
