You can find possibly the world’s best curry puff at a tiny Eurasian bakery in Carnegie. The delicately spiced potato, wrapped in a perfectly laminated pain suisse pastry, is just the start of their offering.
Tommy Er and his team of dedicated bakers draw on his Southeast Asian heritage and more than 20 years of experience to deliver an unreal range of cakes, pastries, and specialty drinks at this genuinely hidden gem.
Originally from Malaysia, Er trained and worked in kitchens across Singapore and Australia before launching his first standalone venue, which recently marked its one-year anniversary.
The name T6 combines his first initial and the number six—considered lucky in Hokkien culture.
The menu is grounded in French technique but shaped by Er’s cultural background and creative flair.
Must-tries include the Onde-Onde Petit Gâteau, a layered take on the classic kuih; the Pandan & Coconut Pain Suisse; and the Pistachio & Chocolate Knafeh Croissant, a weekend-only special inspired by the cult-favourite Dubai dessert.
"Everything we do is grounded in love and attention to detail,” says Er. “We put a great deal of time into perfecting each product, ensuring both quality and artistry. Our designs are modern and refined, offering a style of patisserie rarely seen in Melbourne."
