THE VERDICT
Who else would dare serve up a Royale with Cheese inspired by Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 masterpiece Pulp Fiction? Naturally, it’s Brighton’s own burger institution, The Royale Brothers.
Known for their legendary burgers, the Church Street fave has undergone a transformation, emerging as Royale—a rustic seaside diner with a Melbourne twist. The revamped space oozes charm, featuring wood-panelled walls, quirky art, and cozy bench seating that offers a front-row view of the open kitchen action.
While the burgers you love are here to stay (thankfully), Royale now dishes out an expanded menu of classic Australian comfort food. Expect everything from perfectly cooked eggs on toast with crispy bacon to hearty spaghetti Bolognese and golden schnitzels topped your way.
We can't emphasise enough here though, the burgers really are the star of the show. Imagine everything you wanted from a classic, American style burger (shake and fries mandatory) but elevated. Hot tip: Pick the namesake burger, the Royale With Cheese as a starting point.
There’s nothing quite like it around here,” says co-owner Guy Mainwaring. “We always dreamed of creating a diner, so it’s been a real labour of love.”
Summer’s the perfect time to get in for a burg, the Royale crew are open seven days a week.
